To move massive volumes of mail between local city stations and major sorting hubs, the Postal Service relies on the agility of the Motor Vehicle Operator (MVO). Operating nimble 7-ton to 11-ton commercial box trucks, you are the vital link that keeps the urban mail system flowing. This role abandons the cross-country highway driving of an 18-wheeler in favor of navigating tight city streets, backing into complex alleyway loading docks, and executing rapid, multi-stop commercial routes. Urban Logistics Operations

• Box Truck Mastery: Safely operate a large commercial straight truck (box truck) through heavily congested metropolitan environments. You must master advanced mirror usage, wide-turn radii, and extreme defensive driving to protect the U.S. Mail in heavy traffic.
• Complex Dock Operations: Execute high-precision backing maneuvers. You will frequently be required to back your massive vehicle into tight, subterranean post office loading docks or chaotic downtown alleyways safely.
• Freight Handling: Unlike drop-and-hook semi-truck drivers, MVOs frequently participate in the physical loading and unloading of their trucks. You will utilize heavy-duty manual pallet jacks to load towering wire cages of mail securely onto the vehicle's liftgate.
• Route Schedule Adherence: MVO routes are highly structured "milk runs" hitting several post offices in a loop. You must adhere to strict dispatch times to ensure the letter carriers get their mail on time for their morning routes.

Requirements

Must be 21+ years old. You must possess a valid Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL-B) equipped with Air Brake endorsements. You must have the elite physical strength to operate pallet jacks loaded with hundreds of pounds of mail. A comprehensive federal background check, DOT physical, and drug screening are required.
