We are actively seeking elite CDL-A professionals for the role of Old Dominion Linehaul Driver. In this high-mileage, nighttime role, you are the critical artery connecting our national network of service centers. You will transport consolidated LTL freight primarily overnight, ensuring goods arrive at their destination terminals by morning. If you want maximum mileage pay, minimal freight touching, exceptional equipment, and the stability of a company that has never had a layoff, ODFL is your final destination.
Operational Responsibilities
- Nightly Highway Transit: Safely operate a commercial tractor pulling twin 28-foot trailers (doubles) across extensive nighttime interstate routes, running terminal-to-terminal or utilizing central meet-and-turn relay points.
- Drop-and-Hook Efficiency: Maximize your driving hours. The vast majority of ODFL linehaul routes are 100% drop-and-hook and no-touch freight. You will simply drop your trailers at the destination terminal, hook up to new trailers, and return to your home terminal.
- Doubles/Triples Mastery: Expertly maneuver multiple articulated trailers in all weather conditions, maintaining supreme defensive driving techniques and strict adherence to speed limits.
- Safety & Compliance: Conduct rigorous DOT pre-trip and post-trip vehicle safety inspections. Ensure all cargo seal numbers and hazardous materials (HazMat) placards are perfectly accurate and compliant before leaving the yard.
Why Drive Linehaul for ODFL?
- Maximum Earning Potential: ODFL Linehaul drivers are among the highest-compensated in the trucking industry. With highly lucrative cents-per-mile (CPM) rates, drop/hook pay, and delay pay, you can comfortably earn a massive six-figure salary.
- Home Daily Stability: Despite the high mileage, these routes are designed to get you back to your home terminal at the end of your shift, allowing you to sleep in your own bed every day.
- Unmatched Equipment & Benefits: Drive incredibly well-maintained, modern tractors. Enjoy an elite benefits package including comprehensive health insurance, a robust 401(k) match, and paid time off.
